A Seminar on “Fr. Georges Massouh, Testimonies and Life Path.”

A Seminar on “Fr. Georges Massouh, Testimonies and Life Path.”

On May 17, 2018, a seminar titled: “Fr. Georges Massouh, Testimonies and Life Path.” took place at Sheikh Nahyan Center for Arabic Studies & Intercultural Dialogue at the University of Balamand. Fr. Porphyrios Georgi, Dean of the Saint John of Damascus Institute of Theology; Dr. Marlene Kanaan, Professor of Philosophy at the University of Balamand; Dr. Charbel Dagher, Professor of Arabic Language and Literature at the University of Balamand and Dr. Elias Halabi, Associate Director of Sheikh Nahyan Center for Arabic Studies and Intercultural Dialogue participated in the seminar in the presence of the Balamand family, clergy, faculty and students.

At first, Dr. Kanaan emphasized on the personal characteristics of Fr. Massouh. Fr. Massouh believed in diversity and in both mind and faith working together. Dr. Dagher spoke about the intellectual face, which was threefold: “discourse, position and location.” Fr. Porphyrios pointed out the most important traits of Fr. Massouh, his transparency and honesty with himself and with others. Fr. Porphyrios asserted that Fr. Massouh testified that God is love. When we respect the other we touch God’s Face and His Eternal Light. In the last intervention “Fr. George Massouh, an icon of dialogue,” Dr. Halabi expressed that dialogue according to Fr. Massouh was a testimony based on the sincerity of the faith vision.
