Invited by the Church of Cyprus, the Choir of St. John of Damascus in Balamand travelled to Limassol to conduct a Byzantine Music Concert in Arabic. The choir stayed in Cyprus from Friday 9 to Monday 12 March 2001.
On Friday, the choir led a vigil service after the Supplications Service at St. Ignatius Church, the parish of the Arab Orthodox community.
On Saturday, in the city of Limassol, the Choir participated in the joyful celebration of the reception of relics belonging to St. John the Merciful who was born in Alexandria and became its Patriarch. On the Sunday of St. Gregory Palamas, the choir celebrated the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy presided by Archbishop Michael the Primate of the Church of Greece.On Sunday evening, the Church of the Holy Trinity was over crowded with believers who came to listen the chanting of the Choir. This is not the first performance of the Choir outside Lebanon. The Choir conducted performances in several countries: Lebanon, Syria, France, and most recently Greece.
