الاحتفال ببدء العام الدراسي في معهد اللاهوت مساء
مساء الاثنين 31 آب 2015 وفي صلاة غروب تذكار بدء السنة الطقسية وعيد القديس سمعان العمودي، احتفل معهد القديس يوحنا الدمشقي اللاهوتي في جامعة البلمند بافتتاح السنة الدراسية 2015-2016. ترأس الصلاة المتروبوليت أفرام راعي ابرشية طرابلس والكورة وتوابعهما، بحضور لفيف من الكهنة والشمامسة وطلّاب المعهد والجامعة ومؤمنين من منطقة الكورة.
خاطب المتروبوليت أفرام طلّاب المعهد اللاهوتي داعيًا إياهم إلى التمثّل بالقديس سمعان كمثال للاهوتي المصلّي، "فالقديس كان يخصص نصف وقته للصلاة الفردية والنصف الثاني لأحاديث تعليمية للشعب". بعدها توجه الحضور إلى معهد القديس يوحنا الدمشقي اللاهوتي، حيث أقاموا صلاة تقديس الماء. ثم ألقى عميد المعهد، قدس الأب بورفيريوس جرجي، كلمة توجيهية ناقلاً فيها بركة وصلوات غبطة البطريرك يوحنا العاشر. ودعا الطلاّب الجدد إلى الإحساس بوجودهم في بيتهم وضمن عائلة المعهد المحبّة. أكّد على رسالة البلمند، ألا وهي " صقل شخصيات كنسيّة تشهد للنور في عالم تكتنفه ظلمات التطرّف والعنف والتفلّت والابتعاد عن الله". في النهاية تمنّى الأب بورفيريوس للجميع عامًا دراسيا مباركًا ومثمرًا.
The Opening Ceremonies of the New Academic Year at Balamand
On the evening of Monday 31 August 2015, the St. John Of Damascus Institute Of Theology, the University Of Balamand, celebrated the beginning of the Academic Year 2015-2016, in the Vespers in the occasion of the new ecclesiastical year and St. Simeon the Stylite. Metropolitan Ephrem of Tripoli, El-Koura and dependencies, presided the prayer service, in the presence of many priests, deacons and students.
Metropolitan Ephrem gave a speech at the end of the prayer, encouraging the students to follow St. Simeon’s life, being a true theologian through praying and preaching. “The saint,” he said, “devoted half of his time to prayers and the other half to public teaching”.
After that, everyone gathered in the Institute of Theology where they held the service of the sanctification of the water, in the presence of Metropolitan Ghattas of Baghdad and Kuwait. Rev. Fr. Porphyrios Georgi, Dean of the Institute, gave a speech to the students, relaying to them the blessings and prayers of His Beatitude Patriarch John X. He also invited the new students to feel at home, being in a new family. He emphasized that “the mission of Balamand is to form persons full of light in a world struggling in the darkness of extremism, violence, and getting away from God.” He finally wished them a blessed and fruitful academic year.
