معهد اللاهوت يقيم ندوة رعاية المُسِنّ
ببركة صاحب الغبطة البطريرك يوحنا العاشر، وحضور سيادة الميتروبوليت أفرام كرياكوس مطران أبرشية طرابلس والكورة وتوابعهما ولفيف من الكهنة والأخصائيين، أقام معهد القديس يوحنا الدمشقي اللاهوتي يوم السبت 13/2/2016، من الساعة التاسعة صباحاً وحتى الواحدة بعد الظهر، ندوةً بعنوان "رعاية المسنّ-المرافقة الروحية والنفسية والطبية"، وذلك في قاعة البطريرك أغناطيوس الرابع في المعهد. شارك في الندوة كلٌّ من الدكتور دانيال هانشو الأخصائي في طب الشيخوخة والعناية الملطّفة، وزوجتُه الدكتورة جاين كارانهان الأخصائية في علم النفس، وهما من جامعة ميشيغن وأستاذان زائران أيضًا في المعهد، مع الدكتور ناظم باسيل الأخصائي في طب الشيخوخة في مستشفى القديس جاورجيوس وجامعة البلمند.
بدأت الندوة بكلمة عميد المعهد قدس المتقدم في الكهنة الأب د. بورفيريوس جورجي، والذي أكّد فيها على قيمة الإنسان وفرادته في كل مراحل حياته لا سيما في الشيخوخة. تحدث بعدها الدكتور باسيل حول وضع المسنّين في لبنان وطريقة التعاطي معهم، ثم تحدثت الدكتورة كارانهان حول الاحتياجات النفسية والاجتماعية للمسنين، وكان الختام مع الدكتور هانشو الذي تحدث عن الاحتياجات الجسدية والروحية للمسنّين. وكان النقاش من بعد كلّ مداخلة غنيًّا ومتعدّد الجوانب.
A Conference on
Pastoral Accompaniment of the Elderly
Organized by St. John of Damascus Institute of Theology
Under the high Patronage of His Beatitude John X, Patriarch of Antioch and all the East, the Saint John of Damascus Institute of Theology has organized a seminar on the “Pastoral Accompaniment of the Elderly: Spiritual, Psychological and Medical Needs”. The conference was held on Saturday February 13, 2016 at Patriarch Ignatius IV Hall. His Eminence Metropolitan Ephraim Kyriakos of Tripoli and Dependencies was among the attendees in addition to several clergymen and specialists. Among the presenters were Dr. Daniel Hinshaw, M.D., specialist in Geriatrics and Palliative Care and his wife Dr. Jane Carnahan Hinshaw, M.D. specialist in Psychiatry. Dr. Hinshaw and his wife are professors at the University of Michigan and visiting professors at the St. John of Damascus Institute of Theology. Dr. Nazem Bassil M.D. was also among the presenters and is a specialist in Geriatrics at St. Georges University Medical Hospital and the University of Balamand.
The welcoming speech was addressed by the Very Reverend Archpriest, Fr. Porphyrios Georgy, Dean of the Saint John of Damascus Institute of Theology. In his address speech Fr. Porphyrios stressed on the value of man and his uniqueness through all his life stages and particularly in the stage of aging. Then Dr. Bassil presented the situation of the elderly in Lebanon and the way to deal with various issues related to their care. Later Dr. Carnahan spoke about the psychosocial needs of the elderly. At the end Dr. Hinshaw introduced the physical and spiritual needs of the elderly. The presentations were characterized by the rich and multi-faceted debates after each intervention.
