لقاء وصلاة مع قدس الأرشمندريت أليشع من جبل آثوس
استقبلتِ التلةُ البلمنديةُ مساءَ الجمعةِ 25-2-2016 قدسَ الأرشمندريت أليشع رئيسَ ديرِ سيمونوبيترا (الجبل المقدس-آثوس-اليونان). التأم الجميعُ في صلاة الغروب، الساعة السادسة مساءً، في كنيسة ديرِ سيدةِ البلمندِ البطريركي. وقدّم آباء الدير في نهاية الصلاة للأرشمندريت أليشع أيقونتين تذكاريتين وكتاباً حول دير سيدة البلمند.
تلا الصلاةَ مائدةُ عشاءٍ في معهد القديس يوحنا الدمشقي اللاهوتي، ليكونَ بعدَها لطلابِ المعهد لقاءٌ مع الأرشمندريت أليشع، وذلك في قاعة البطريرك إغناطيوس الرابع في المعهد من الساعة الثامنة وحتى العاشرة مساءً. بدأ اللقاءُ بكلمةِ عميدِ المعهد، قدس المتقدم في الكهنة، الأب بورفيريوس جرجي، والذي رحَّب بقدس الأرشمندريت أليشع، مشيراً إلى مكانة الجبل المقدس وآبائه لدى كنيسة أنطاكية. بعدهَا كان الحديثُ لقدسِ الأرشمندريت أليشع حول "الحياة الروحية في العالم"، والذي ركَّزَ على أهمية الصدق مع الذات في الحياة الروحية، وتجدُّد الإنسان بالنعمة الإلهية وإرادة الإنسان، وضروروة التعلُّم من الكتاب المقدس والآباء، والاستعمال الحسن لِلُغَةِ العصرِ وأدواتِه.
تلا الحديثَ مجموعةٌ من الأسئلة، ثم وزّع الأرشمندريت أليشع تذكارات للجميع، واقتبل من إدارة المعهد هدية متواضعة، لينتهي اللقاء بصورة تذكارية للجميع على مدخل المعهد.
Meeting and Praying with Abbot Elisha of Mount Athos
On Friday evening February 25, 2016, the Balamand Hill welcomed the Right Reverend Archimandrite Elisha, Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Simonopetra (Mount Athos – Greece). At six o’clock in the evening, everyone was gathered at the church of our Lady of Balamand patriarchal monastery for Vespers. After the service two icons and a book on Balamand Monastery were presented as gifts to Archimandrite Elisha by the Balamand fathers.
After Vespers, the St. John of Damascus Institute of Theology hosted a dinner in honor of Abbot Elisha. Then the seminarians were very blessed to meet him and listen to his spiritual talk at the Patriarch Ignatius IV Hall. The meeting began with a welcome speech addressed by the Very Reverend Archpriest Fr. Porphyrios Georgi, Dean of the St. John of Damascus Institute of Theology. Fr. Porphyrios highlighted the significance of Mount Athos to the Church of Antioch. Then Abbot Elisha spoke about “Living a spiritual life in the world”. He stressed on the importance of honesty with oneself in the spiritual life, and the renewal of man by the Divine Grace and the human will. He also stressed on the importance of the Bible and the teaching of the Fathers and the good use of contemporary language and its tools.
The meeting was ended by a number of questions. Abbot Elisha distributed some souvenirs to all people present. He also accepted a humble gift from the Institute’s administration. At the end Abbot Elisha joined everyone and took a memorial photo at the entrance of the Institute.
