بدء العام الدراسي في معهد القديس يوحنا الدمشقي
مساء الاثنين الواقع في الخامس من أيلول، تم الاحتفال، رعاية صاحب الغبطة البطربك يوحنا العاشر، ببدء العام الدراسي الجديد 2016 – 2017 في معهد القديس يوحنا الدمشقي اللاهوتي. أُقيمت صلاة الغروب في دير سيدة البلمند برئاسة المتروبوليت أفرام راعي أبرشية طرابلس والكورة وتوابعها، وبحضور لفيف من الكهنة والشمامسة وأساتذة المعهد وطلّابه مع المؤمنين من القرى المجاورة للدير.
توجّه المتروبوليت أفرام بكلمته إلى الطلّاب بشكل خاص، معلّقًا على آية "الصانع ملائكته لهيب نار" (مزممور 103)، شارحّا كيف تكون هذه الخدمة اللهيبيّة لطالب اللاهوت. مؤكدًا أنّ العلم اللاهوتي لا معنى له من دون جهاد ونضال. وأنّ هذا الجهاد هو أفضل السبل للتغلّب على تجربة "الروتينيّة" التي تميت الروح المسيحية. وأوضح سيادته أهميّة الموضوع الروحي في حياتنا مؤكدًا على الدور البشاري لكنيستنا الأنطاكية.
وتوجّه من ثمّ، الحضور إلى مبنى معهد القديس يوحنا الدمشقي اللاهوتي، حيث أُقيمت صلاة تقديس الماء، تلتها كلمة توجيهيّة لعميد المعهد قدّس المتقدم في الكهنة الأب بورفيريوس جرجي، ناقلاً بركات وأدعية غبطة البطريرك يوحنا العاشر وآباء المجمع الأنطاكي المقدس.
Saint John of Damascus Institute of Theology inaugurates the new Academic Year
On Monday evening September 5, 2016 the new academic year, 2016/2017, was launched at the Saint John of Damascus Institute of Theology under the patronage of His Beatitude Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East. Metropolitan Ephrem of Tripoli, El-Koura and dependencies, presided the vesper service celebrated by many priests, deacons, faculty members and students, at Our Lady of Balamand Patriarchal Monastery.
His eminence, in his comment on Psalm 103, which says, “He makes His messengers winds, His ministers a flaming fire”, addressed the students in particular. His Eminence explained how a theology student could become a flaming fire. He added that studying theology is fruitless without spiritual struggle. This struggle is the best means to overcome “routine”, which diminish the Christian spirit, according to Metropolitan Ephrem. His Eminence also underlined the importance of spiritual life and the evangelical role of our Antiochian Church.
Afterwards the attendance participated in the sanctification of water service, which was held at the Institute of Theology. Following, Father Porphyrios Georgi, Dean of the Saint John of Damascus Institute of Theology addressed the faculty, staff and students. He passed to them the blessings of His Beatitude Patriarch John X and of the hierarchs of the Holy Antiochian Synod.
