A Program for Antiochian Christians AbroadJanuary 20 to February 12, 2010 The Institute of Theology in coordination with His Eminence Archbishop Silouan of Buenos Aires and All Argentina has organized a guided visit to the Church of Antioch for a selected group of priests and deacons who serve parishes and institutions in his archdiocese. The program is based in a framework of prayer and study for a period of four weeks during which the participants visit archbishoprics, monasteries, parishes, schools, and different kind of institutions that offer social service in the Church. The program venue is at the St John of Damascus Institute of Theology where they spend most of the time in coexistence with seminarians. The Argentinean delegation that arrived on January, 20 has met with people and leaders of the Antiochian Church in Syria and Lebanon in different kind of events: they prayed together, they saw institutions working, discussed with priests and laymen about leadership in the Church and planned for future cooperation activities. In Lebanon, they were received in the archdioceses of Beirut, Mount Lebanon and Tripoli. In Syria, the Patriarchate, the archdioceses of Hama, Aleppo, Latakia, Safita (Akkar), and Homs dedicated especial activities for the guests. During their stay the faculty at the Institute of Theology offered the priests a course on liturgy, pastoral care and history of Antioch. The program On the Pathways of Antioch aims at reinforcing the bonds between the local church and the church abroad and fosters a unity of life between the members and the institutions of the Antiochian church.
