صلاة غروب بمناسبة بدء السنة الدراسية الجديدة
برعاية صاحب الغبطة يوحنا العاشر بطريرك أنطاكية وسائر المشرق الكليّ الطوبى،
وببركة وحضور صاحب السيادة متروبوليت طرابلس والكورة وتوابعهما أفرام الجزيل الاحترام،
وبمشاركة سيادة الأسقف غطاس رئيس دير سيدة البلمند البطريركي،
أُقيمت صلاة الغروب وتبريك الخمس خبزات بمناسبة بدء العام الدّراسي الجديد في معهد القديس يوحنّا الدّمشقي اللاهوتي في كنيسة رقاد السّيدة في دير سيدة البلمند البطريركي باجتماع أسرة المعهد من آباء وأساتذة وموظّفين وطلّاب.
وبعد انتهاء الصّلاة توجّه سيادة المتروبوليت أفرام بكلمةٍ إلى طلّاب المعهد ذكر فيها أنّ "جيل بعد جيل يتناوب حضوره في هذا الصّرح المبارك ليتلقّى الزّاد الضّروري لخدمة كنيستنا الرّسولية المقدسة"؛ وأنّه تجري مع هذا التّناوب "حياةٌ متجدّدة مع الّرب يسوع القائم من بين الأموات الذي ينتشلنا من تفاهة الدّنيا الفاسدة التي تتخبّط من فعل الحركات الشيطانيّة المقهورة مسبقًا، ... وهذا كلّه يحثّنا على الجهاد...".
وفي كلامه على الجهاد مع الّرب، نوّه سيادته بارتباط الحياة الروحيّة بلاهوت الكنيسة الأرثوذكسيّة قائلاً: "هذا الجهاد اليوم...، يدفعنا إلى الانكباب بجدٍّ متواصل على تراث آبائنا القديسين الذين سبقونا والذين حفروا بدموعهم الصّلاتية هذه الكتابات المقدّسة التي نتناولها بين أيدينا في كلّ وقت، أوّلها الكتاب المقدس في عهديه القديم والجديد ... وأيضًا الصّلوات اللّيتورجية التي نفخر بها في عالمنا الأرثوذكسي والتي قلّما نغوص في أعماق معانيها؛" ولَفَتَ سيادة المتروبوليت إلى أنّ هذا الجهد سيُرافَق بنعمة الله مشدّدًا على أنّ "الرّوح الإلهي سوف يعيدنا برفقة وإرشاد معلّمينا إلى الغوص في كتابات الآباء القديسين القدماء والمعاصرين وما إلى ذلك من الدّروس المفيدة لتنمية العقل والقلب".
وقُبَيل ختام كلمته، ذكّر سيادته الطلّاب بأنّهم يعيشون ههنا في قلب كنيستهم الأنطاكية، وأنّهم حلقة في سلسلة الأجيال الحاملة البشارة بمجيء المسيح "الذي أتى ويأتي في باروسيّةٍ مستمرّة الى الدهر". ثمّ دعا سيادته الرّب يسوع ووالدته صاحبة الدّير المقدّس وجميع القديسين أن يرافقوا الطّلاب في جهادهم، وأطلقَهم قائلاً "إذهبوا مع بركة الله والرب يوفّقكم في هذه السّنة، آمين".
The Opening of the New Academic Year Celebration 2014-2015
Under the High Patronage of His Beatitude Patriarch JOHN X, the Patriarch of Antioch and all the East, and with the blessings and presence of His Eminence Metropolitan Ephrem of Tripoli, El-Koura and Dependencies, and the participation of His Grace Bishop Ghattas (Hazim) the Abbot of Balamand Patriarchal Monastery, a Vespers was held along with the service of the blessing of the five loaves, on the occasion of the new academic year of the St. John of Damascus Institute of Theology. The service was held at the Church of the Holy Dormition in Balamand Patriarchal Monastery, in the presence of the Institute’s family: the Dean, faculty, employees, and students.
At the end of the prayer service, His Eminence Metropolitan Ephrem addressed the students, reminding them that he comes to this blessed place to witness, “one generation after another coming to this place in order to obtain the bread necessary for the service of our Holy Apostolic Church.” This succession of generations, His Eminence remarked, is accompanied by a renewal of life in the Lord Jesus Christ, the One Risen from the dead, and the One Who raises us up from the vanity of a world rocked by evil works, the evil which was previously trampled down… All this incite us to a life of discipline and spiritual labor (ascesis)…”
Speaking about the spiritual labor in the Lord, His Eminence emphasized the link that exists between spiritual life and the theology of the Orthodox Church. Thus he declared, “This labor today incites us to work continuously and with perseverance on revealing the legacy of our Holy Fathers who wrote with tearful prayers these holy writings, the Holy Scriptures with the Old and New testaments…, the liturgical prayers in which we boast, and which we rarely seek to study their deep meanings..." His Eminence also pointed to the Divine Grace needed to accompany all study efforts. He thus emphasized that “the Divine Spirit will guide us to study the writings of the Holy Fathers, the ancient fathers and the contemporaries... for the growth of the human heart and mind. All this is done under the guidance of our teachers."
At the end of his word, His Eminence reminded the students living here, that "they abide in the heart of the Antiochian Church." They are a link of a chain of generations who carry the Good News of the coming of Christ, “Who comes and will come in a continuous parousia till the end of the ages." He then called the Lord Jesus and His Mother, the Patron Saint of this Holy Monastery, to accompany the students in their efforts, saying to them: "Go with the blessings of the Lord, and may the Lord God give you success in this year, Amen.”
كلمة متروبوليت طرابلس والكورة وتوابعهما للرّوم الأرثوذكس أفرام كيرياكوس
باسم الآب والابن والروح القدس، آمين.
سيدي العزيز رئيس هذا الدير المقدس، آبائي الأجلّاء، الحضور الكريم،
أوجّه هذه الكلمة المختصرة إلى طلّاب المعهد في بدء هذه السنة الدراسية.
أيها الطلاب الأحباء،
الأيام تركض وتتوالى والزمن يجري ولا يتوقف، زمن هذه الحياة العابرة. جيلٌ بعد جيل يتناوب حضوره في هذا الصرح المبارك ليتلقّى الزّادَ الضروري لخدمة كنيستنا الرسوليّة المقدّسة.
وبعدُ، نقول في الكنيسة اليوم، في هذا اليوم الذي فيه تُفتتحُ السنة الدراسية بنعمة الله في المعهد اللاهوتي، معهد القديس يوحنا الدمشقي، اليوم الذي هو آنيّ، ماضٍ ومستقبل، تجري معه الحياة المتجددة مع ربّنا يسوع المسيح القائم من بين الاموات البارز لحياةٍ أبديّةٍ، ينشلنا معه من تفاهة الدنيا الفاسدة التي تتخبط من فعل الحركات الشيطانيّة المقهورة مسبقًا. هذا كلّه أيّها الأحباء الطلاب يحثّنا على الجهاد مع الربّ الذي يشاركنا في تعبنا برجاءٍ وحماسٍ لا ينثنيان.
هذا الجهاد اليوم، وفي كل يوم في هذه السنة الدراسية الآتية، يدفعنا إلى الانكباب بجدٍّ متواصل على تراث آبائنا القديسين الذين سبقونا والذين حفروا بدموعهم الصلاتيّة هذه الكتابات المقدسة التي نتناولها بين ايدينا في كلّ وقت. أوّلها الكتاب المقدّس في عهديه القديم والجديد، والذي علينا أن نعرفه من الدفّة الى الدفّة، وأيضًا الصلوات الليتورجيّة التي نفخر بها في عالمنا الأرثوذكسي، والتي قلّما نغوص في أعماق معانيها. الروح الإلهي سوف يعيدنا برفقة وإرشاد معلّمينا إلى الغوص في كتابات الآباء القدّيسين القدماء والمعاصرين، وما إلى ذلك من الدروس المفيدة لتنمية العقل والقلب. ولا ننسى، أيها الأبناء الأحباء، هذه الحياة المشتركة الذي يتميّز بها معهدنا الحبيب. لا شكّ أنّكم سوف تُجرّبون بالضّجر أحيانًا في أوقات الفراغ اللاهية. لكن اعلموا أنّ هذه الأيّام التي تقضونها ههنا لن تنسوها في كلّ حياتكم المقبلة.
أنتم تعيشون ههنا في قلب كنيستكم الأرثوذكسية الأنطاكية. هنا هو القلب، حلقة متواصلة في هذه السلسلة، سلسلة الأجيال المتعاقبة، حاملين رسالة البشارة السارّة بمجيء المسيح الذي أتى ويأتي في باروسيّةٍ مستمرّة إلى الدهر.
لن أضيف شيئًا على هذه الكلمة المقتضبة. الرب يسوع المسيح إلهنا ومخلّصنا مع والدته مريم صاحبة هذا الدير المقدس وجميع القدّيسين يرافقكم في جهادكم. لا تخافوا أبدًا ولا تيأسوا ممّا سوف يواجهكم، الروح القدس نفسه جلبكم إلى هنا.
إذهبوا مع بركة الله،
والرب يوفقكم في هذه السنة،
آمين.
جلسة بيتوتيّة مع صاحب الغبطة
تحت عنوان "جلسة بيتوتيّة" وفي رحاب البلمند، التقى غبطة البطريك يوحنا العاشر طلّاب اللاهوت في معهد القديس يوحنا الدمشقي في قاعة المثلّث الرحمات البطريك إغناطيوس الرابع، وذلك مساء الخميس الواقع في السابع عشر من هذا الشهر (تشرين الأول). دخل غبطته القاعة على أنغام ترتيلة "بواجب الإستئهال" التي كان يرتّلها الجميع. حضر اللقاء السادة المطارنة جورج أبو زخم ملاك أبرشية حمص، وإغناطيوس الحوشي ملاك أبرشية فرنسة وأوروبا الغربية والجنوبية، وإسحق بركات ملاك كنيسة ألمانية وأوروبا الغربية، بالإضافة إلى عميد المعهد الشماس بورفيريوس جرجي والمسؤول الداخلي الأرشمندريت يعقوب الخوري.
توجّه غبطته إلينا (أي إلى الطلاب) بكلام توجيهٍ وتعزيةٍ وتشجيعٍ في آنٍ معًا. فهو قد عوّدنا منذ العام الماضي على اهتمامه الكبير بطلاب اللاهوت وتخصيص الوقت لهم رغم كثرة انشغالاته وضيق وقته. هذا الإهتمام وهذه الإلتفاتة تجعلنا نشعر أننا بحضرة أبٍ يتوجّه لأولاده ويسمعهم. كان تركيزه على "حياة الطلاب الروحيّة وعلاقتهم الشخصيّة بالسّيد المسيح، الذي يحلو معه العيش، ومن اختار الطريق معه، أيًّا كانت هذه الطريق، فهو رابحٌ دون شكّ". كما وركّز على أنّنا "يجب أن ننمو بالعلم والمعرفة والعقل والقامة والخبرة والصلاة والمحبّة معًا، لنكون رجالاً حقيقيّين على جهوزيّة لخدمة كنيستنا المقدّسة. فالنمو بالعلم والمعرفة والعقل جيّدٌ، لكنّه لا يكفي لوحده ... ما يميّزنا هو الروح أو الروحيّة التي نحيا بها، والسيّد المسيح الذي هو هدف وجودنا هنا". ثمّ أعطى غبطته الكلام لكلّ من السادة المطارنة والعميد والمسؤول الداخلي، حيث أفادونا بدورهم من خبرتهم السابقة "الجميلة التي لا تُنتسى في المعهد والدير". وفي الآخر، وقبل الختم على أنغام التراتيل، طلب غبطته من بعض الطلاب التكلّم على خبرتهم الشخصيّة، بجوّ يجمع بين الجدّية والمرح، ممّا جعل هذا اللقاء الأول لهذا العام الدراسي (2013-2014) "جلسة بيتوتيّة" في الحقيقة.
The Opening Ceremonies of the New Academic Year at Balamand
The second of October 2013 was another exceptional day in the life of the Saint John of Damascus Institute of Theology, for the opening ceremonies of the Academic Year 2013-2014 took place with the blessings of His Beatitude Patriarch JOHN X of Antioch and All the East, and under His High Patronage.
The new academic year was launched by a Blessing of Waters service, which was held at Institute. His Grace Bishop Constantine Kayal, the Abbot of Saint Elias Shuwaya Patriarchal Monastery and professor of Liturgics at the Institute, presided over the service in the presence of all faculty, staff and students.
After this prayer service, the Dean, Deacon Porphyrios Georgi, addressed the Balamand family. He first remembered Patriarch IGNATIUS IV of Thrice Blessed Memory, "whose presence in last year's opening ceremony was a blessing to all of us. It was his last visit to the Institute. We felt as if His Beatitude was paternally bidding us farewell, before entrusting the deposit to his trustworthy successor and wise arch-pastor, Patriarch JOHN X." The Dean also defined the concept of "theologizing," saying that "Theology is the art of arts and the science of sciences. Its origins started on the shore of Lake of Tiberias, where Christ the Teacher used to converse with his fishermen-disciples, sharing meals with them. From the Teacher's way, we learn how to philosophize, "in a fisherman's, and not in an Aristotelian's, manner," as explained by St. Gregory the Theologian. Fr. Porphyrios emphasized that "the Church is Apostolic as much as She is Biblical. Moreover, right Theology is Biblical, Apostolic, and Patristic at the same. If any of these pillars of theology is missing, then believers will be led astray, to the content of those with arrogant minds." Then, Fr. Porphyrios stressed the importance of scientific research and study, “in order to deal with the skeptics in a keen, systematic, and sensible way.” Finally, the Dean pointed out the central role of the Sacrament of the Eucharist in the life of the Institute. He asked each of the Balamand family members to remember him always in their prayers, so that he may, "with the help of the Grace of God, fulfill in a proper and complete way, the ministry entrusted by the Church to him." Classes began after the Dean's speech.
In the evening of that day, the opening ceremonies continued by a Hierarchical Vespers at the Church of the Patriarchal Monastery of our Lady of Balamand. His Eminence Metropolitan Ephrem (Kyriakos) presided over the service, in the presence of several bishops, clergy and faithful from the region. Metropolitan Ephrem encouraged the students to use their time diligently and carry their responsibility to lead the faithful to the safe harbor. He spoke about how knowledge is learned through the mind and the heart, in a personal and prayerful way.
After Vespers, everyone gathered in the Church Hall to joyfully greet each other, hoping for a fruitful Academic Year.
